Altmont Modern Material CareUpdated an hour ago
The Victorinox Altmont Modern collection has been made from recycled polyester.
This help guider will show you how to clean recycled polyester outer bags, backpacks & suitcases
Recycled polyester is durable and eco-friendly, but like any material, it benefits from regular cleaning to stay looking its best. Follow these steps to keep your bags fresh and well-maintained.
What You’ll Need: Mild liquid detergent or gentle soap, soft cloth or sponge, soft-bristle brush (optional for tough stains), clean dry towel, warm water (not hot), optional spray-on fabric protectant for polyester.
Step 1: Empty Your Bag
Remove all contents, including removable inserts or compartments. Shake the bag upside down to remove loose dirt, crumbs, and debris.
Step 2: Dust and Brush Off Surface Dirt
Use a soft cloth or brush to gently remove surface dust and dirt. Pay attention to corners, seams, and zippers where dirt tends to accumulate.
Step 3: Spot Clean Stains
Mix a small amount of mild detergent with warm water. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution, wring it out, and gently dab stained areas. For stubborn stains, use a soft-bristle brush to lightly scrub in circular motions. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, as they can damage the fabric.
Step 4: Wipe Down the Entire Surface
Using a damp cloth with the mild soap solution, wipe the whole outer surface to remove accumulated grime. Rinse the cloth and go over the surface again with clean water to remove soap residue.
Step 5: Dry Properly
Pat the bag with a clean, dry towel to remove excess water. Leave it to air-dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources, which can damage the recycled polyester.
Step 6: Maintain Zippers and Hardware
Use a dry cloth to clean metal zippers and handles. Apply a small amount of zipper lubricant if needed to keep them running smoothly.
Step 7: Optional Protection
Once fully dry, you can apply a fabric protector spray designed for polyester to help repel stains and water. Test on a small, hidden area first to ensure it doesn’t affect colour or texture.
Pro Tips: Lightly wipe down your bag weekly to prevent dirt build-up. Avoid machine washing, as recycled polyester outer fabrics are often laminated or structured; machine washing can damage the finish. Store bags in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent mould or discoloration.
This method works for all recycled polyester outer bags, from backpacks to trolley-style suitcases, keeping them clean, fresh, and ready for travel while preserving their eco-friendly material.
